THE WITNESS CIRCLE
We start by stepping into the field as we take in all the other witnesses.
Telling a personal story in this context has the following effect.
It gives each participant an opportunity to be seen and heard in a group where everyone has their attention out while meeting one another with love and approval.
This gives you, the storyteller, insight into your own life; as you tell your story you reveal yourself to yourself. Things occur to you that wouldn’t have presented themselves otherwise.
At the same time each of the Witnesses are listening they’re going to be reminded of events in their own lives which they will be invited to share.
Each of the participants gets a felt experience of being connected to one another. The stories are the vehicles to get us there.
On another level the participants are invited to listen to each other as parts of themselves and to observe how that shifts their perspective. They may then own their reactions free of projection.
By going through this process we gently tear away the illusion of separation.
