Witness FAQ’s

Q: What are the benefits?

A: The Witness Circle offers a unique opportunity to hone the skill of listening, a practice often neglected in our fast-paced lives filled with work and personal responsibilities, and the distraction of social media. Our collective attention span is short, and it's progressively diminishing.

In this space, the Witness Circle encourages participants to slow down, reacquaint themselves with their humanity, and experience the simple yet profound act of being present with and for one another.

Q: Are there health benefits to sharing our stories?

A: Yes. Fear of judgment often prompts us to hide parts of ourselves, and although these aspects don't disappear, they fade from our conscious awareness over time. If left unexpressed these concealed parts can manifest as physical or mental health issues. Sharing stories with others who have similar experiences helps us recognize we are all part of a shared narrative. The judgments we fear are self-imposed, and by acknowledging this, we can release them, dispelling shame in the process.

Q: What inspired The Witness Circle?

A: The inspiration for The Witness Circle originated during the 90s when I was conducting interviews for a documentary. Observing people sharing their stories, I noticed moments of self-discovery. Having faced significant challenges in my own life, I've always been intrigued by others' experiences. By listening without imposing my own biases, participants could reveal fresh insights not only to me but also to themselves. Providing the gift of being seen and heard struck me as a beautiful offering.
